Wise County Virginia was know for their delicious apples. The largest output for Wise and for the state occurred in 1945, when the harvest of the state reached nearly 14 million bushels. Wise County’s share of the total output in Virginia was above 1.5 percent during much of the century, and peaked at nearly 3 percent in 1950.
